ANNE JUNKO MARCHESSAULT DECEM...
ANNE JUNKO MARCHESSAULT December 26, 1967 to October 7, 2020 Anne Junko Marchessault, 52, beloved mom, wife, sister, aunt and friend, known for her love of friends, art, animals, nature, cooking, fashion, and interior design, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at her home in Aspinwall, PA. Anne was born in New Haven, CT to parents David Marchessault and Junko Suzuki. She attended schools in Houghton, MI and was a graduate of Mount Saint Mary Seminary high school in Nashua, NH in 1986. She received her B.A. in Communications from Duquesne University in 1990 and later went on to acquire a Masters of Arts in Creative Arts and Learning from Lesley University in 1997. She began her career as a 2nd grade teacher in the Newton (MA) Public School in 1996. After spending 5 years in education, she gave birth to her three children and became a full-time mom. Education remained a constant as Rye recalls many late nights studying with Anne while she helped drill vocabulary words for spelling tests! She returned to education in 2016 in addition to working for Elysian Fields Farms, combining her love of food and cooking. Anne had a wide variety of hobbies and passions during her life. She enjoyed spending time in nature, Vermont in particular. The family camp in St. Albans, VT held a special place in her heart and was a spiritual retreat and a place to spend cherished time with her children and extended family. Anne and Judd also purchased a cabin in Confluence, PA to maintain a closeness with nature. Anne held a love for all animals and would never hesitate to rescue animals in distress, including several kittens, turkey chicks, ducks and a street dog from a tropical island. Most recently, she took to raising chickens and spending time riding horses, a long-held passion from childhood, with her daughter Phoebe at Stoneybrook Foundation Therapeutic Riding Center in Acme, PA. A memory that Phoebe will always cherish. Cooking was also a pastime that Anne shared with both family and friends. Her son Sam recalls the wonderful and varied aromas of Anne's amazing dinners as he would descend the stairs to the dining room. Anne is survived by her beloved husband Judd Evans; sons, Rye and Sam Charlson; and daughter Phoebe Charlson. Dear sister of brothers, Art (Judy) Marchessault and Steven (Heather) Marchessault and Michael (Nicole) Moscheck and sister, Christy (Chris) Schultz; stepdaughter of Sharon Marchessault and Hiroshi Suzuki. Anne was preceded in death by her parents, David Marchessault and Junko Suzuki. A private memorial service will be held Friday, October 16, at Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve. Due to COVID restrictions, capacity is limited and will be for family and close friends only. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a memorial gift or donation to her surviving children. Please contact Kristin Fox for details at kbfox629@verizon.net. Alternatively, please also consider planting a tree in Anne's name. She loved nature - she often took her children for hikes, loved her time in Vermont, worked at a nursery, and more. Also, Anne was granted a wish by the organization, Ally's Wish. You may already know of the Make-a-Wish Foundation which grants wishes to children with critical diseases. Ally's Wish is similar, but it grants wishes to MOTHERS with critical diseases. Anne's friend, Holly, nominated Anne for a wish, and Ally's Wish granted Anne a wish in 2019. She wished for a peaceful space in the mini cabin at her Turkey Foot Cabin in PA, and so Ally's Wish provided furniture for that space so that she could share it with her children, Judd, and family and friends. For information on donating a memorial gift in Anne's name to Ally's Wish, please visit https://allyswish.org/ Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
