NAVARRA CHARLENE ANN Age 65, of Lakewood, CO, passed away peacefully, on November 15, 2015, with her family by her side. She suffered a brief illness following a stroke. Born in New Castle, PA on August 3, 1950, Charlene was the daughter of Delores (Dolly) Jean Phillips and the late Fred H. Navarra. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo D. Shelledy, whom she loved dearly. She was a graduate of Neshannock High School and a graduate of Methodist College. She lived most of her life in the Pittsburgh, PA area and moved to Lakewood, CO to be near her grandchildren in 2005. Charlene was a longtime employee of Moody Insurance Agency in Denver and formerly worked at Construction Insurance in Pittsburgh. She loved cooking, eating out, traveling with her family, the Pittsburgh Steelers, holidays and her crazy dog, Bailey. She loved going to the beach and recently had traveled to Texas and Georgia for family weddings and to the Broadmoor with her granddaughter for a 65th birthday celebration. She learned to enjoy travel in her son and family's camper in the Rockies. Most importantly, she cherished every single moment she spent with her grandchildren, Paige, Everett, Sylvia and Brooks Alcorn and Madison and Kylee Fullbright. She was a generous and caring woman, always taking care of others. Survivors include her mother, Delores Phillips of Ft. Myers, FL; two sons, Chris Alcorn and wife, Amy of Lakewood, CO and Brian Alcorn and wife, Kimberly of Denver, CO; seven stepchildren, Cathy Allen and husband, Bill of Marietta, GA, Diane Hulse and husband, Kirk of Collinsville, IL, Janie Gray and husband, Dave of Mars, PA, Guy Shelledy and wife, Tricia of Morgantown, WV, Karen Fruscione and husband, Sam of Marietta, GA, Dan Shelledy and wife, Vicky of The Woodlands, TX and Ross Shelledy and wife, Mary Sue of Chesterfield, MO. She is survived by her sister, Linda D'Augostine and husband, Carl of New Castle, PA, sister, Joanne Navarra of Charlottesville, VA; and brother, Richard Navarra of Wexford, PA. She is survived by her six grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. The family will hold a memorial service in the Pittsburgh area at a later date to be announced. FOUTS REV. THERESA MARION "ROSE" Age 81, of Freedom, on Sunday, November 15, 2015, in Concordia, Cranberry Township. Born September 21, 1934, in Amity, AR, she was a daughter of the late Victor L., Sr. and Virginia Campbell Rose. Theresa was a United Methodist Pastor with the Western Pennsylvania United Methodist Conference. Ordained in 1981, she served United Methodist Churches including Robison Chapel, Uniontown Larger Parish, North Richmond, Teepleville, Green Valley, and Wilmerding, retiring from active ministry in 2000. She served on the Conference Commission on the Status and Role of Women from 1987 to 1994. Theresa was supportive of many community organizations, such as Animal Friends, Audubon Society, WQED, and the Butler Opera Society. A woman of many talents and great faith, she shared her passions in music, sewing, quilting, journaling, poetry, and language, being most passionate about her family. In addition to her parents, preceding her in death was her husband of 42 years, Rev. Earle H. Fouts. Surviving are two daughters, Cheryl L. Cotten, Pittsburgh, and Carrie R. (Michael) Hungerman, Cranberry; a son, Jeremy E. Fouts, Demorest, GA; a sister, June (Monty) Andrews- Howard, OK; one brother, Victor L. (Gwen) Rose, Jr., KS; six cherished grandchildren, Sheldon P. Cotten, Bronwyn Rose Cotten, Seth E. Hungerman, Evan W. Hungerman, Ryan M. Hungerman, and Luke D. Hungerman; along with two great-grandchildren, John M. and Jaxson W. Hungerman. Proud WWII veteran enlisted in the Navy in 1943 and served as Signalman Second Class on the USS O'Toole. Received various medals and was discharged in 1948. Avid sports fan and loved his Penguins. He would tell the doctors that he contributed his longevity to a daily shot of whiskey and an Iron City beer. BURKHARDT COLLEEN JANE Age 88, of Monroeville, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was born on October 28, 1927, in Johnstown, PA, to the late Joseph and Anna Heeney. Beloved wife of the late Dean H. Harshberger and the late Richard I. Burkhardt. She was the loving mother of James D. Harshberger (the late Donna), Richard J. Burkhardt, Timothy C. Burkhardt (Lori), Kurt F. Burkhardt (Tammi), John “Jack” Burkhardt (Tracie), and the late Kevin F. ”Rocky” Burkhardt and Marilyn Burkhardt. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Colleen graduated from Johnstown High School in 1945 and from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing in 1949. She was a retired head nurse at Magee Women's Hospital. She was a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and a longtime member of the Ladies of Charity and the Women's Guild. ZIEGLER MARILYN Age 72, of McKeesport, died November 19, 2015, at Overlook Green, in Whitehall. Born June 27, 1943, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Frank Lovas and Mary (Gall) Lovas and beloved wife of the late James A. Ziegler. Marilyn had a strong faith and was an active member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church which was like a second family to her. She was very active in volunteer work, especially for the McKeesport Salvation Army. Marilyn loved to sing, having been a part of the church choir, as well as the Alcoa Choir. Marilyn's generosity and support towards others will be missed by all who knew her. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Terersa Potts of Lawrenceville; sister, Toni Walters of Elrama; brother, Frank (Grayce) Lovas of Chile; her stepchildren, step-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. LESOVITCH HOWARD ADAM “ADEL” Age 85, of Coraopolis, PA passed away Thursday, November 19, 2015, at West Hills Rehabilitation, Moon Township, PA of congested heart failure. Born April 10, 1930, in Carnot, PA to the late Eva and John Lesovitch. He was a retired factory worker for J & L Steel, Des Moines Steel, and Fisher Control. Served in the National Guard from 1947 through 1950. In his younger days, he loved to draw and Howard was quite the artist. He is survived by his one sister, Stella J. Stewart. He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and William; his sisters, Ann Kaluski, Rosella Lesovitch, Catherine Simonette, Lillian Dvorak, and Mary Ann Pahel; and Baby Adam who died in childbirth. KACZKA RICHARD C. Born October 8, 1929, in Glassport, PA, departed this world, on November 19, 2015, after living a very full life. Rich spent 25 years in the U.S. Air Force, serving during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. After traveling the world in the Air Force and attaining the rank of Master Sergeant, he retired right back where he began in Glassport. He was the 12th of 14 children of Anthony and Antonette (Kumiega) Kaczka. He is survived by four of his siblings, Stephanie Edmundson of White Oak, PA, Mildred Prejean of Sulfur, LA, Stanley and his wife, Dorothy Kaska of Clairton, PA and John and his wife, Betty Kaczka of Glassport, PA. He was a lifelong member of Queen of the Rosary Church in Glassport. Rich was never married. Though he had no children of his own, he was an inspiring presence to his many nieces and nephews because of his generous kindness, jovial attitude and respectful wisdom. Rich followed politics with great interest, which he loved almost as much as doing his daily NYT crossword in pen. He was always quick to laugh and found real enjoyment in life in the little things. Funeral Mass to celebrate the brightness of Rich's life will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of the Rosary Catholic Church in Glassport. BERNHARDT ANNA M. “ANN” On November 19, 2015. Beloved wife, Ann, mother and grandmother, passed away. She was 84 years old. She leaves behind her husband, Horst of 33 years; her children, Robert (Vicki) Rajnovic and Jill (Brad) Larson; her stepchildren, Heike (Charlie) Perugino and Kirstin (Allan) Klutch; six grandchildren; and sister, Eileen (Jerry) Boehm. Preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Rajnovic; her daughter, Cooky (Marianne); sons, Steve and Glenn; and her brother, Andrew (Pete) Mueller (Perry). Ann loved to sing and was a member of the Sweet Adelines for over 40 years making may lifelong friends and enjoying performances and competitions. A lifetime love of reading led to her volunteering for the Carnegie Library of the Blind and reading for Masses at her church, St. Thomas More in Bethel Park. She spent the last five years of her life at Kane Nursing Home in Scott Twp. She was known to say, “Why eat vanilla when there's chocolate?” Her voice will live on. KOVANIS NINA M. (LONIERO) Passed away, on Wednesday, November 18, 2015, at home, after a struggle with cancer, of Carnegie, age 65. Nina was a beloved teacher at Crafton Elementary School, retiring in 2013, after many years of doing what she loved to do, surrounded by coworkers who became a second family to her. She also loved the beach and would go as often as she could, though she hardly got her toes wet! The hot sand and cool breezes were enough. Nina was happy to be a grandma to John; mom to Marisa and Jimmy; and most especially wife to Jim. She will be missed by so many. Preceding her in death were her parents, Lillian (Bonfili) and John Loniero; and baby sister, Maria Loniero; niece, Toni Loniero; and nephew, Joseph Loniero.
